Politics

It's been a very busy time since school started. Trying to get myself and Emily Grace back into the swing of things has been difficult, and has resulted in some temper tantrums. Emily Grace has had a few, too.

Anyhow, tonight was the most "normal" night we've had in a while. Through all of it, however, I did make time to watch a good portion of the Democratic National Convention. Even as I type now, we have our tv tuned to the RNC. I love politics. I love watching the debates, hearing different views on the issues, and the arguing that goes on between the parties. Certainly I don't claim to be any kind of expert on either political party; I just want to be an informed voter. I am sitting here listening to the news anchors argue over double standards with women politicians. Of course there are double standards. There always have been and there always will be. Can Governor Palin be an effective VP AND be a good mother??? Who really knows? All the women are upset because this is a question that everyone is asking, especially in light of Palin's daughter's "delicate" situation, and no one is asking can Barack Obama be an effective President AND a good father. Get used to it. Women are viewed as the caretakers of the home and family, whether we like it or not. Let the politicians handle their personal lives in private and let's focus on the bigger issues facing Americans right now. Get the most information you can to make the decision you feel is right in November. And if you don't do the responsible thing and vote, shame on you. Don't bitch and whine about who wins or what happens over the next four years. God bless America. Thank you, and goodnight.
